About Electrolysis
Permanent hair removal for every body!
Electrolysis is permanent hair removal for every body, regardless of skin color or hair type.
Electrolysis treatments from Associated Electrolysis of Charleston safely and permanently remove all types of hair from all skin tones. No other hair-removal solution can claim the universal acceptability and success offered by electrolysis treatments. In a world of temporary hair removal and reduction, electrolysis stands alone as the permanent alternative to lifetime maintenance. Electrolysis permanently destroys the growth cells of the hair follicle, preventing treated hairs from growing back. Most other methods focus on immediate, but temporary, hair removal - visible hair, or hair that's inside the follicle but has not yet emerged. None of them can deliver the permanance of electrolysis.
Your electrolysis treatment will consist of your electrologist, Mary Spivey-Just, CPE, inserting a very fine needle (thinner than the hair being treated) into the natural opening of the hair follicle alongside the hair shaft. A tiny amount of electrical current is then applied to destroy the hair growth cells.
After a personal and confidential consultation, your electrologist at Associated Electrolysis of Charleston will design a treatment plan that addresses your specific hair removal needs.
What areas can be treated with electrolysis?
Electrolysis works on all skin and hair types. It can be applied to most facial and body parts, including eyebrows, chin, upper and lower lip,
jaw line and sides of the face, breast, underarms, abdomen, bikini line, feet, legs, and back.
Hair removal for women
Almost all areas of the body can be subject to unwelcome hair growth. For women, the unwanted hair on commonly visible areas, like the face, usually takes priority.
Hair growth in the chin, upper lip, jaw, and throat areas is usually caused by hormones, whether imbalanced or not. Genetics and medications can also cause excess hair on the face and on body areas such as the chest, breasts and abdomen.
Common treatment areas include:
- Chin
- Jawline
- Upper lip
- Throat
- Sides of face
- Eyebrows
- Chest
- Abdomen

Hair removal for men
For many men, temporary hair removal regimens are essential to attaining a well-trimmed look. Frequently, excess hair on your back or shoulders, around the ears or between the eyebrows grows back faster than you can remove it. Or perhaps you are a competitive athlete for whom regular body hair removal is a necessary chore.
Common treatment areas include:
- Back (including shoulders & torso)
- Ears
- Eyebrows
- Cheeks (to clean up beard line)
- Neckline
- Nape
- Hands / Feet
Hair removal for gender-affirmation
Trans people often seek ways to bring their outward appearance into line with their internal sense of self. Doing so can improve not only your personal satisfaction with your appearance, but also raise the level of confidence with which you interact with others. You may find, as many others have, that permanent hair removal can help you look more like the person you know yourself to be.
